How to find Lady Ann at Horsey

Horsey Staithe [from the Norse for landing stage] is situated between Sea Palling and Winterton on the picturesque coast road, the B1159, reached from the A149 via Stalham, Martham, Caister or Yarmouth. Lady Ann is an easy walk from the Horsey Windpump carpark along an accessible footpath [see our map below].

Horsey Windpump

Horsey Windpump, an imposing five-storey drainage windpump, is owned and operated by the National Trust and there is good parking with excellent toilets which include separate disabled facilities. There is a National Trust Shop and Tearoom and a wheelchair accessible nature garden adjacent to the carpark. This is the only National Trust property in the Norfolk Broads that is open regularly. Full details are available from the National Trust website

Around Horsey

A 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive from the staithe is The Nelson's Head Pub and the local beach is only a mile's walk along a footpath. Also you will find a three-mile nature trail starting from the staithe.

The very popular Poppylands Restaurant is a mile along the road towards Sea Palling. Further along the road to Sea Palling the impressive Waxham Great Barn, built around 1570, is well worth a visit with its up-to-date museum facilities and cafe. The Sea Palling Post Office & Stores sell a wide range of groceries and beach wares. Sea Palling beach is one of the few beaches in Britain to attain 'Blue Flag' status.
